Manziel returns to an actual football field

It's going to take a lot more than a few hours of practice for any team to remotely consider giving Johnny Manziel another shot at being a professional football player, but it appears he's actually returned to the field.

Manziel has been teasing a comeback attempt ever since he left the NFL following the 2015 season. While few have given the comeback any credibility, Manziel posted photos working on his throws Friday with noted quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr.

Whitfield has worked with NFL quarterbacks like Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, and Jameis Winston, and could help Manziel overcome the long list of fundamental technique problems he's shown in his career.

The former Cleveland Browns first-round pick acknowledged he's been picking up some tips from Whitfield such as keeping his "toe down through the throw."

Manziel also reportedly volunteered for drug testing recently and claims he is "sober with a clean head on (his) shoulders."

Hopefully, the 24-year-old can continue to keep his life straight off the field while he works to become a better player on it.
