Steelers have 'no reservations' about signing Bell to long-term deal

Le'Veon Bell may have hit a bump or two in the road over his four-year career, but the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't worried about repeated mistakes jeopardizing the availability of their top-notch running back.

Bell is set to become a free agent in March, unless the Steelers sign him to a new deal or use the franchise tag to retain him. For his part, general manager Kevin Colbert doesn't want to see Bell (or teammate Antonio Brown) leave anytime soon - or anytime at all, for that matter.

"I can say unequivocally we want Antonio Brown to retire as a Steeler, just as we want Le'Veon Bell to retire as a Steeler," Colbert said Thursday, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We have no reservations about (Bell) ...

"There is no hesitation for us to have him, hopefully, his entire career."

The 24-year-old runner was suspended three games in 2016 for missing a 2015 drug test after previously being arrested for marijuana possession. Bell returned to have one of the highest yards from scrimmage averages ever, and the Steelers believe he will continue on that trend.
