Commissioner Roger Goodell revealed in his state of the league address during Super Bowl week that the NFL has been looking at ways to speed up the game. Those discussions continue to take place.
CBS chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves recently met with Goodell for that very reason, according to Cynthia Littleton of Variety.
The two discussed possible solutions, such as limiting the time referees spend reviewing replays and "reformatting" the current model used for commercials.
"We're trying to make the game as good an experience as we can make it," Moonves said.
Such discussions were prompted by the league's fluctuating ratings during the 2016 season.
