Ahead of free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles spoke with nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters about a prospective pay cut for the 2017 season, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Peters is owed $9.95 million in base salary for the upcoming season, holding a cap figure of $11.2 million.

The Eagles possess the fourth-least cap space in the NFL entering the offseason, according to Spotrac. It's likely that the Eagles are looking to create more cap space in order to make room for some free agents to sign when the market opens.

Peters remains as one of the NFL's premier left tackles and is instrumental in providing Carson Wentz with a clean pocket, as the young quarterback continues to develop into the Eagles' franchise player.

The 35-year-old signed a five-year contract worth $51.3 million in February 2014.
