Chiefs to open extension talks with Reid, Dorsey

The Kansas City Chiefs are understandably looking to make sure their leadership regime remains in place for the foreseeable future.

On the heels of an impressive four-year stretch, ownership is planning to discuss contract extensions with both head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey.

"Both (Dorsey) and Andy ... I would expect to sit down with them over the course of the next year and sit down and talk about an extension," Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said this week, according to Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star. "Let me frame it this way: I'm very satisfied with the job both of them have done, and I really like the way the two of them have worked together."

Reid and Dorsey are heading into the final years of the contracts they signed in 2013. Considering the success they've enjoyed since, posting a 43-21 regular-season record and making three playoff trips, it's likely only a matter of time before they're rewarded.

Kansas City will enter the 2017 campaign looking to take another step in the right direction, building upon the 12-win showing and AFC West title that led to a first-round playoff bye this year.
