Giants' Harrison calls for Pierre-Paul, Hankins to be re-signed

The New York Giants established a solid defensive front in 2016, but are in danger of losing a few bodies from that mix.

Damon Harrison doesn't want that to happen.

With Jason Pierre-Paul and Johnathan Hankins set to become free agents, the Giants nose tackle posted a clear message to his team's front-office staff on Friday.

Harrison and defensive end Olivier Vernon both signed expensive new contracts last offseason, and for the most part, lived up to the hype. Vernon led the Giants in sacks with 8.5 this season and Harrison was named the league's best run defender by ProFootballFocus for the second year in a row.

Despite spending heavily last offseason, the Giants are set to have around $32.7 million in cap space to start the 2017 year, according to spotrac.com.
