Report: Bengals undecided on Jones' status with team for 2017

While the Cincinnati Bengals have made few public remarks surrounding the recent arrest of Adam Jones, the team has yet to decide if the veteran cornerback will be part of their roster for the 2017 season, sources told the Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski.

Jones was arrested Jan. 3 and charged with harassment with a bodily substance and misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and obstructing police. A video of his arrest was released Jan. 23 showing Jones verbally abusing a police officer. Jones and the Bengals then released individual apologies for his actions just hours after the video was made public.

The team will likely not make a decision on Jones until after his case has been resolved, adds Owczarski.

The 33-year-old signed a three-year, $24-million contract extension last offseason, but with only $2 million in dead cap money remaining over the final two years, the Bengals could cut Jones with little financial repercussions.
