Peterson has considered playing for Giants, Texans, Bucs if released

With an $18-million cap hit and no dead cap money on his current deal for next season, the chances of Adrian Peterson being released from his contract are fairly high.

The Minnesota Vikings could renegotiate Peterson's deal, but if he hits the open market, the future Hall of Fame running back already has a few ideas of where he wants to end up.

"There's a couple teams out there that I've thought about ... New York (Giants) was one of them that popped up, Tampa Bay, lot of different teams. Houston would be a good spot," Peterson told ESPN's "First Take" Thursday. "I'll stop right there ... I'm just throwing random names out there."

While the 31-year-old has played with the idea of joining a new team, he reiterated his desire to finish his career with the team that drafted him.

"I see myself in purple. A lot has to take place," Peterson said. "I see myself finishing off in purple. It is a business at the end of the day, so with that, things could end up differently ... Hopefully we can work things out."

If the Vikings are to keep Peterson on a new deal, an agreement would have to be reached before the new league year begins on March 9.
