Sherman: MCL injury 'wasn't that serious, so there's nothing to address'

Richard Sherman's knee has been the subject of much consternation.

At the close of the Seattle Seahawks' season, coach Pete Carroll revealed his top corner played on a significant MCL injury. Such information had never been divulged or mentioned in weekly injury reports and could render the Seahawks subject to a fine or even harsher penalty.

That would be an unnecessary punishment, according to Sherman.

"It wasn't that serious, so there's nothing to address," Sherman said of the injury on Friday, according to Conor Orr of NFL.com. "There wasn't anything to address.

"I don't think the team should be punished, no. There's been a number of teams that have been warned so we'll see what happens."

Sherman then suggested a precedent had already been set on how to handle such matters.

"(Pittsburgh Steelers running back) Le'Veon (Bell) said he's got a groin (injury) for weeks, they're going to get a warning. (Indianapolis Colts quarterback) Andrew (Luck) played with cracked ribs for a whole year (in 2015). You see what I'm saying? It would be odd, out of the norm."
