"Los Angeles Chargers" is a name that will take some getting used to for many fans, including the team's new head coach, Anthony Lynn.

At Lynn's introductory press conference Tuesday, he started things by saying "I'm so proud to be head coach of San Diego, er, Los Angeles Chargers," according to NFL.com's David Ely.

In fairness, it's a mistake a lot of people will make over the next few months - and perhaps years.

Once Lynn corrected himself, he set to work convincing fans of the team that he's the right guy for the job.

Lynn promised that the Chargers, who finished with a 5-11 record this season after going 4-12 a year ago, will be competitive in 2017 and beyond, and said he believes the Chargers job was the most attractive of the six head coaching vacancies in the NFL this offseason.

Lynn also confirmed Ken Whisenhunt will return as offensive coordinator. He didn't reveal who the team plans to hire as defensive coordinator, but said former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley is being considered.
