Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said receiver Jordy Nelson has a chance at playing in Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys despite suffering two fractured ribs and likely internal injuries, but Aaron Rodgers is taking the long view.

"We're going to try to get this one and hopefully get him back," Rodgers said Wednesday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

"He's been a warrior all season," he added. "I don't think he's missed a practice hardly all season. Different without him out there, but we're hopeful he's going to be able to heal quickly and be able to go."

Nelson was Rodgers' top target all season, leading the league in touchdown receptions with 14, and recording 1,257 receiving yards.

Playing without him for much of last week's wild-card game against the New York Giants, the quarterback spread the ball around to Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Jared Cook, Ty Montgomery, and Geronimo Allison.

Rodgers spoke with Nelson on Tuesday night, and said the receiver remained hopeful he could play in the second round of the postseason.
