Giants' Pierre-Paul seeking multi-year deal after proving he's still a force

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul says he would have been cleared to play in the divisional round had his team defeated the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

"I definitely would've been out there this (coming) week," Pierre-Paul told reporters Monday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Pierre-Paul underwent hernia surgery in early December and raced to beat the six-to-eight week recovery timetable, apparently coming up just short.

It's possible the veteran has played his last game for the Giants.

Pierre-Paul also spoke about his contract Monday, saying he won't accept a one-year deal like the one he signed last spring.

"I've done proved it ... There's not a guy like me doing it with seven-and-a-half fingers," Pierre-Paul said.

He's right. After making just one sack in eight games played following his 2015 fireworks accident, Pierre-Paul made seven sacks in 12 games played this season and was a consistently disruptive force coming off the edge. There's little doubt he will have several multi-year offers in free agency.
