Report: Eagles fire WRs coach Greg Lewis

Howard Smith / USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles are making a change in response to their season-long issues in the passing game.

Wide receivers coach Greg Lewis has been fired just one year after joining the team as part of Doug Pederson's incoming staff, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports.

Lewis' position group didn't exactly give rookie quarterback Carson Wentz much to work with throughout the year, as Jordan Matthews was the lone wideout among the team's top four in receiving yards.

A longtime Eagles receiver who last appeared in an NFL game in 2010, the 36-year-old made the transition to coaching shortly after his career came to an end.

Lewis appeared in 90 games for Philadelphia from 2003-08, tallying 127 receptions for 1,699 yards and seven touchdowns.
