Jason Pierre-Paul is at least another week from making his long-awaited return.

The New York Giants defensive end was officially ruled out for Sunday's wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers as part of the injury report released Friday.

Both player and team had been holding out hope that Pierre-Paul would be able to suit up for the beginning of the playoffs, but he's still yet to practice since undergoing surgery for a sports hernia Dec. 7.

He'll presumably remain week to week with a chance to get back on the field in the event that New York can advance without him.

Taking on Aaron Rodgers and a red-hot Packers passing game becomes all the more difficult without one of the league's most explosive edge-rushers in the lineup opposite Olivier Vernon.
