Bears GM undecided on future at QB: 'Everything's on the table'

There doesn't appear to be an obvious course of action for how the Chicago Bears should handle the quarterback position going forward - so they'll consider every option.

In their worst season since 1969, the Bears had three quarterbacks - Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, and Matt Barkley - start at least five games. With Hoyer and Barkley set to become free agents and Cutler able to be cut for a low price, general manager Ryan Pace has some difficult decisions to make this offseason.

"Trust me," Pace said Wednesday, according to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. "I understand the magnitude of that decision going forward. That's a critical, critical decision for me and this whole building."

Historically, the Bears have struggled to find good quarterback play. The last time they sent a pass-thrower to the Pro Bowl was Jim McMahon in 1985 - the year they won the Super Bowl.

Pace doesn't plan on pigeonholing himself into one path, insisting he won't rule out anything in trying to find the best quarterback for the Bears.

"Everything's on the table right now," Pace said. "Really, that's what it is. It's free agency. It's trades. It's the draft. It's current players on our team. Everything's on the table."
