Dolphins' Jay Ajayi: In line for heavy workload Saturday

The Dolphins will likely employ a run-heavy game plan powered by Ajayi with Matt Moore under center Saturday against the Jets in New York, the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

Moore has been thrust into a starting role due to the sprained left ACL and MCL suffered by Ryan Tannehill last Sunday versus the Cardinals. Because Moore hasn't started a game in nearly five years, a vanilla game plan featuring short passes and a hefty dose of Ajayi is a logical outcome. Ajayi has been no stranger to such a workload, receiving at least 18 touches in each of the last eight contests, a span in which he averaged 22.4 touches per contest. The usage could very well yield fruit against a Jets defense that has allowed four touchdowns on the ground as well as a 133.8 rushing average over the last five games.
