Flacco says Ravens need to go run-heavy for rest of season

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco thinks his team should switch to a run-first identity for the duration of the year.

The Ravens are tied for 28th in the league with 301 rushing attempts, despite Kenneth Dixon and Terrance West forming a strong backfield tandem, and Flacco says they need more balance.

"There's no doubt we're going to have to run the ball, especially if teams are going to go out and play two high (safeties) against us like the Patriots did," the quarterback told ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "We're going to have to be able to hand the ball off and get yardage out of it. Then, it's going to get our play-action game going a little bit more and make it that much better."

Flacco acknowledged Dixon and West's proficiency, and urged the team to dial their numbers up.

"We have to make sure we get all we can out of our backs," he said. "They're running the ball really well. You can see how hard they're running the ball when they get it in their hands. We have to make sure we get them going."
