Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Another modest showing in Week 14 win

Evans gathered in four of eight targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 16-11 win over the Saints.

Analysis:

Evans was expected to take on an even larger role than usual, given that both Cecil Shorts (knee) and Adam Humphries (concussion) were sidelined. While he did lead the team in targets, Evans could only convert half of them into catches, with a 13-yard reception serving as his longest of the afternoon. The Saints clearly anticipated the enhanced focus that Jameis Winston was likely to have on his top pass catcher, which frequently led to double coverage and contested throws his way. Despite a couple of down games -- Evans has totaled a combined seven catches on 14 targets for 80 yards over Weeks 13 and 14 -- he figures to be in the spotlight once again in the pivotal Week 15 battle against the Cowboys.
