Redskins' Josh Doctson: Won't return this season

The Redskins tabbed Kory Lichtensteiger (calf) as their designee to return from injured reserve, meaning Doctson (Achilles) won't play again this season, Brian McNally of 106.7 The Fan DC reports.

Analysis:

Plagued by a sore left Achilles throughout the offseason program and preseason slate, Doctson toughed it out the first two games of the season. Among his two catches on six targets, he showed off his first-round pedigree with a 57-yard reception. Unfortunately, Week 2 marked his last appearance, he was placed on injured reserve in Week 7, and teams can only designate one player for potential activation from IR. He'll thus focus his efforts on an injury-free offseason in anticipation of a sustained role within the Redskins' offense in 2017.
