Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul: Out six weeks after hernia surgery

Pierre-Paul will miss at least six weeks after surgery to repair a sports hernia, Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports.

Analysis:

Pierre-Paul sustained the injury in Sunday's loss at Pittsburgh and didn't return. With the defensive end requiring surgery, he'll miss the rest of the season and appears unlikely to return until the NFC Championship Game, should the Giants advance that far. Pierre-Paul had 5.5 sacks in his last three games, so this is a major loss for the Giants defense.
