Kaepernick to remain starter Week 14 vs. Jets

The San Francisco 49ers are giving Colin Kaepernick a chance to bounce back from his worst performance of the season.

Kaepernick, who was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert during Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, will return as the starter this week against the New York Jets, offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins announced Tuesday.

San Francisco elected to make the switch after Kaepernick completed just 1-of-5 pass attempts for a total of 4 yards through three quarters of play.

The disastrous showing came on the heels of a relatively promising stretch, but weather conditions were certainly a factor in both his production and the 49ers' run-oriented game plan.

Kapernick has started seven consecutive games since taking over for Gabbert in mid-October, completing 54.5 percent of his passes for 1,444 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Facing off against a Jets defense that surrendered 41 points to the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night should have him and the rest of the 49ers' offense poised for a far more efficient game.
