Petty takes over for Fitzpatrick to start 2nd half

Ed Mulholland / USA TODAY Sports

Down 28 points with starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick doing nothing, the New York Jets went to second-year pass-thrower Bryce Petty to begin the second half Monday night.

Fitzpatrick mustered just three points as he completed 5-of-12 first-half attempts for 81 yards and an interception against the Indianapolis Colts.

This is the third game Petty has appeared in this season. He started the Jets' Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Rams, losing 9-6 while going 19-of-32 with a touchdown and an interception.

On his first drive, Petty completed two-of-six passes for 23 yards.
