Dickerson meets with Rams exec to address recent dispute

Eric Dickerson and the Los Angeles Rams are doing what they can to get past the public spat that created headlines throughout the week.

Making an appearance on SportsCenter on Friday, the Hall of Fame running back explained that he recently had a positive discussion with Rams executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff.

"I had a very good meeting with Kevin Demoff (on Thursday)," Dickerson said, according to ESPN. "We talked for almost three hours, trying to resolve things. ... The conversation went well. I think we got some things resolved. He said, 'You're always part of the organization.'"

The uncomfortable back-and-forth began when Dickerson suggested that a Rams executive told him he was no longer welcome on the sidelines during games due to his criticism of the team. When the organization denied that such a ban was ever issued, Dickerson clarified that the decision came from head coach Jeff Fisher.

Dickerson explained at that point that he wouldn't attend a Rams game for as long as Fisher remains coach. Despite the apparent progress with Demoff, he's not walking back that claim.

"One thing with me: If I say something, I stand by it," Dickerson said. "I will not go back to the games as long as Jeff Fisher is there. ... I don't have a vendetta against Jeff at all. I give Demoff credit for saying, 'We want to try to get this issue straightened out. We want you to come back. ... You're more than welcome to come back.'

"But no, I won't because I felt like the call to me was a very disrespectful call. It was like I'm a kid and he's putting me on notice."

Dickerson played the first four-plus seasons of his illustrious NFL career with the Rams during their previous stint in Southern California. The former first-round pick racked up an incredible 7,245 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns across 65 games before a blockbuster deal sent him to the Indianapolis Colts in 1987.
