With two Pro Bowl selections, Joe Haden is expected to be the anchor of the Cleveland Browns' defense. After the club stumbled to an 0-11 start, defensive coordinator Ray Horton has called out Haden for an "average" year to date.

Haden recorded 29 tackles and three interceptions this season, but isn't on track to make the league's annual all-star game barring a second-half surge.

"I think he is having for him, he would probably say an average year," Horton said to reporters via ESPN's Pat McManamon. "He would probably expect a little bit more from him(self)."

Horton recognized the caliber of opponents Haden has faced this year, but is still disappointed in the veteran's output.

"Obviously, when you go against the Antonio Browns, the Odell Beckham Jrs., the A.J. Greens and all of the guys that he has been against, they are going to catch some of theirs just because of the way the league is. But we and he expect a lot more out of him, meaning he expects himself to be one of the top players in the league."

Haden mainly agreed with Horton's assessment.

"Not like I'm having a bad year, but to my standards I just feel like I should be the best corner in the league," he said. "And I don't feel like I've been playing like the best corner in the league this year."
