Redskins' Gruden not happy with schedule-makers for extra-short week

The Washington Redskins have back-to-back prime-time games coming up, but head coach Jay Gruden isn't excited about the extra exposure for his team.

In fact, Gruden took issue with the Redskins' short week. They play Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers and then have a Thanksgiving divisional clash on Thursday with the Dallas Cowboys

Others teams have had to adjust to this quick turnaround, but it will be even more difficult for Washington, given the fact they play Dallas at 4.30 p.m. ET, much earlier than standard Thursday night games.

"I'm not sure anyone's ever had to do this," Gruden said, according to ESPN's John Keim. "The schedule-makers did us no favors."

Usually, teams would use the extra time before playing on Sunday Night Football to prepare for their next opponent, but Gruden said he's made that mistake previously.

"I tried getting ahead before and it screwed me up," Gruden said.

Gruden pointed out that preparation is made easier because they've already played the Cowboys this season, but emphasized that they're still being handicapped against maybe the best team in football.

"We've already done a lot of work on them," Gruden said. "That's a good thing. But we're talking about possibly playing a 9-1 team that we'll get about 10 hours to work on."
