Rams' Fisher: Gurley's touches 'need to increase significantly'

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher admits running back Todd Gurley needs to be more involved offensively.

Over the past two weeks, Gurley has tallied just 27 carries and the Rams have failed to score more than 10 points in either game, continuing a midseason slide with four straight losses since a 3-1 start.

"Todd's not getting enough carries," Fisher said, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN. "Our passing numbers were skewed. His touches and his numbers need to increase significantly. That's what we discussed, and what we're working on right now offensively."

With the offense inexplicably turning into a pass-first unit, Gurley has failed to record more than 15 carries in three straight contests.

Fisher said those numbers "need to get up in the twenties."

"We've got to do a better job; we recognize that," Fisher added. "Todd's number of carries the last few weeks are not what we would like."
