Teacher battling cancer surprised by call from Peyton Manning

Elementary school teacher Rhonda Jacobs got quite the surprise recently when she picked up her phone and heard Peyton Manning on the other end.

Jacobs, who teaches at Teague Elementary in Pasadena, Texas, told FOX 59 News that the caller ID read "unknown," but she immediately recognized Manning's voice. They spoke for about five minutes.

"After about two or three sentences, I knew that was his voice and I started freaking out," she said. "He did most of the talking and it was awesome."

Jacobs was diagnosed with cancer in July and has been listening to Manning's press conferences during treatments to keep her calm. Manning found out about her story after Teague Elementary nurse Nikki Seymour contacted his PeyBack Foundation.

"I wrote the organization and explained that we are not kids, but you are not going to meet a bigger fan than her. Within 30 minutes, his agent, who works side-by side with Peyton, called me," Seymour said. "Peyton wanted to do something special for Rhonda. It was amazing how quickly the organization responded to me."
