Titans' DeMarco Murray: Limited at practice for purposes of rest

Murray was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice for non-injury reasons.

Analysis:

The Titans are wisely lightening the practice workload for Murray, who's on pace for 318 carries and 62 receptions after logging 18-plus touches in each of the first seven games. He's been even busier since Derrick Henry was phased out of the offense, averaging 27 touches the past four weeks. Murray figures to continue dominating snaps Thursday against Jacksonville and into the coming weeks, as his combination of power, speed and passing-game skills makes the team hesitant to take him off the field. Should the Titans fall into a slump and out of playoff contention, it would be tough to justify this usage pattern in the final few games. Given the current state of the AFC South, the team does have a real shot to stay in contention through Week 17.
