49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Anticipated to keep starting job
Kaepernick is anticipated by head coach Chip Kelly to keep the 49ers' starting quarterback job following the team's Week 8 bye, Cam Inman of The Mercury News reports.
Analysis:
Kaepernick has gone 0-2 since taking over for Blaine Gabbert, but San Francisco's shortcomings stretch far beyond the quarterback position. While Kaepernick failed to complete 18 of his 34 passing attempts and committed two turnovers Sunday against the Buccaneers, he also gained 84 yards on the ground. That running ability has pleased Kelly since Kaepernick became the starter, and he's expected to retain the position once the 49ers reconvene after this week's bye.
