Bears' Matt Barkley: Struggles in relief Thursday

Barkley completed six of 15 passes for 81 yards with no touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in Thursday's 26-10 loss to the Packers. He also lost a yard on his sole rush.

Analysis:

Barkley was pressed into action after Brian Hoyer exited in the second quarter with what turned out to be a broken arm and looked like you'd expect a quarterback who'd made a grand total of one pass attempt since 2013 to look. The 26-year-old had trouble establishing any type of rhythm and consequently, Zach Miller found himself as the Bears' leading receiver with only 40 yards through the air. With Jay Cutler (thumb) inactive, the Bears had nowhere else to turn Thursday once Hoyer went down, but it would appear highly likely that the former will get the starting nod when Chicago takes on the Vikings in Week 8.
