Elliott says he still has room to grow: 'It's going to be kind of scary'

While others are more than excited about what Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has done in his rookie season, he says there's plenty of room to get better.

Elliott, who is on pace to break Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record, insists he can do better at the second level of the defenses to create more yards. He's gotten a lot of help from his stellar offensive line, but wants to show his talents once he's past the big boys up front.

"Honestly, I'm not really taking too many big hits. I got that great O-line, so that helps," Elliott told Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota. "I have yet to show the dominance at the second level ... Once that starts happening, it's going to be kind of scary."

The rookie knows he's on the right track, pacing himself to be the best rookie running back in NFL history, but maintains that his focus is on each week and not on Dickerson's 1,804-yard record.

"It's not important. You guys wanna write a story about the rookie rushing record. It's about this team," said Elliott, addressing reporters. "I don't want any attention being put towards that. It should be about this team. It should be about these guys."
