Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger: Officially ruled out for Week 7

Roethlisberger (knee) has been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against New England, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Head coach Mike Tomlin made it official Tuesday, naming Landry Jones as the Week 7 starter. Roethlisberger had surgery Monday to trim his damaged meniscus, with hope he'll miss just one game and return after a Week 8 bye to face the Ravens on Nov. 6. Le'Veon Bell will likely be busy against New England, as the Steelers didn't have much luck throwing downfield when Jones was under center last season.
