Brady: 'I feel better at 39 than I did when I was 29'

Tom Brady is just a different breed.

Fresh off his 2016 debut, where he returned from a four-game suspension to lead the New England Patriots to a blowout win over the Cleveland Browns, the veteran quarterback is showing no signs of slowing down.

Brady explained Monday during appearance on WEEI that there aren't any concerns about his body impacting him on the field as he approaches the age of 40.

"I would have much rather been playing," he said of the month spent on the sidelines, via Adam Kurkjian of The Boston Herald.

"I feel pretty good. Every week I feel pretty good. I think at the end of the Denver game last year, at the end of the season, after that game, well, I was a little sore after that game. I felt pretty good going into that game. I've talked at length how I feel over the years and I feel better at 39 than I did when I was 29."

Brady was his usual self in helping the Patriots move to 4-1 on the season, completing 28-of-40 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns.

As he and the Patriots offense round back into form, it's reasonable to believe he'll reach a higher level of play down the stretch.

A far more difficult test is on tap next weekend for Brady's first home game of the season, as the Patriots host the defending NFC North champion Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
