Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday after missing Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a concussion.

The superstar is reportedly on track to start Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. During practice, Newton took reps with the first-team offense.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the team will reevaluate Newton's status tomorrow.

"Cam was out there as part of the protocol. We'll see how he is tomorrow."

In spite of his limited status, Newton impressed Rivera during Wednesday's session.

"He looked good. Threw the ball pretty darn well."

Newton suffered the concussion in a 48-33 loss to the Atlanta Falcons after incurring a hit from Deion Jones near the goal line.

The reigning MVP was spotted driving through Charlotte on a motorized scooter prior to Monday's game.

Derek Anderson filled in for Newton in his absence, throwing two interceptions during Monday's 17-14 loss.

Newton's return to action couldn't come soon enough for the Panthers, who've slumped to a 1-4 record following a Super Bowl appearance last season.
