Carroll slams critics of Wilson's pocket presence after win over Jets

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll came to Russell Wilson's defense following Sunday's 27-17 victory over the New York Jets.

Wilson dissected the Jets' defense, going 23-of-32 for 309 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions during the victory, finding eight different receivers.

Early in Wilson's career, the quarterback was considered to be a significantly better passer outside of the pocket, but made major strides over the past few seasons. Carroll blasted Wilson's skeptics as a result on Sunday.

"All those guys that say he can't throw from the pocket don't know what they're talking about. They don't know what they're talking about. And that's just something they must have said a long time ago and they're still defending because he can throw it from anywhere," Carroll said of Wilson to reporters postgame.

Wilson continues to improve as one of the league's best all-around talents and most opponents realize it'd be unwise to underrate the three-time Pro Bowler.
