Tannehill on Dolphins' offense: 'We've got to get it fixed'

After an embarrassing display under the national spotlight, the Miami Dolphins are desperately searching for answers.

The Dolphins are now 1-3 after a 22-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, but it could have been much worse, as the Bengals settled for five field goals on drives that could have ended in touchdowns.

"We have to go back to work. We have some time now to evaluate kind of what's going on, whether it be schematically, if it's players, decision-making, all this stuff, play-calling. We've got to go back and get a look at this stuff and put things together and figure out what we do well and start leaning on that a little more," head coach Adam Gase said after the game.

While Miami's defense stemmed the tide for much of the night, the only offensive success was a 74-yard TD strike from Ryan Tannehill to Kenny Stills. The Dolphins managed just 160 yards passing (nearly half came on the touchdown), 62 yards rushing, and went 2-for-11 on third down.

"We didn't do anything really well. It was probably one of the worst performances I've seen from our offense in a long time," Tannehill said.

"Too many mistakes. It was bad. We have to get it fixed soon, and by soon I mean Monday. It's gone on too long. There's no more excuses, there's no more waiting. It's gotta be important to everyone who steps on that field and we've got to get it fixed right now."

Miami's losses have come against some of the NFL's stronger teams (Seattle, New England, Cincinnati) and its schedule softens the rest of the way, but the Dolphins could find themselves three wins behind the division-leading Patriots on Sunday, giving them a tough uphill climb.
