Giants' Orleans Darkwa: In line for additional touches

Darkwa could be in line for an increased role due to Shane Vereen's season-ending triceps injury, the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis:

With Rashad Jennings (thumb) on the pine Sunday versus the Redskins, Darkwa split the RB touches with Vereen, garnering 10 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Vereen had 11 runs for 67 yards and a touchdown, which he supplemented with two receptions (on five targets) for 28 yards. With Vereen out of the picture and Jennings' status up in the air, Darkwa could take the reins of the backfield in the short term, though head coach Ben McAdoo stated Monday that rookie Paul Perkins is "ready to step up." The situation will be one to monitor closely as next Monday's game in Minnesota approaches.
