Bolt: I turned down NFL offers because the hits are too rough

Nine-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt slammed the door on any possibility he'll consider taking his world-record speed to the NFL now that his Olympic career is over.

Asked Friday on "The Dan Patrick Show" about the possibility of taking up American football, Bolt admitted he's been offered the chance to play wide receiver.

"I've never really thought about going," Bolt said, "but I've gotten offers and people have asked me."

Bolt cited the violence of the NFL as a reason he doesn't want to become a two-sport athlete.

"I used to watch (football) when I was younger, and the hits that the guys used to take, I know that it is not as bad now, but the hits that the guys would take kind of turned me off," Bolt said.
