Browns' Josh McCown: Dealing with broken collarbone

Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton said Friday that McCown (shoulder) has a broken collarbone, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal reports.

Analysis:

Head coach Hue Jackson said the collarbone isn't totally broken, but regardless, McCown can now safely be ruled out for multiple weeks, leaving Cody Kessler with an extended opportunity to serve as the starting quarterback. While not timetable has been reported, McCown will likely be out until at least midseason, though he's still a better bet than Robert Griffin (shoulder) to have an impact before the end of the year.
