Broncos' Thomas, Anderson express concerns over offense after 2-0 start

The reigning Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos are avoiding complacency after a 2-0 start.

Denver's title defense is off to an excellent start but numerous members of the offense complained about the lack of production on its side of the ball.

Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas took issue with his lack of receptions, and believes - much like teammate Emmanuel Sanders - that the passing game ought to be stronger.

"We're gonna need more offense, that's for sure," Thomas said to NFL.com's Michael Silver. "It's hard - you're always putting it on the defense, and at some point, that's tough to count on. There's no reason to keep it close. Last year, a lot of things went our way, but that can catch up to you.

"You've got two guys ... damn, the best duo in the league, and we haven't had 100 yards in a game yet. He's got, what, eight catches? I've got nine."

Trevor Siemian emerged as the team's starting quarterback, winning the job in training camp. Peyton Manning's retirement following Super Bowl 50 created a vacancy, and the team isn't using it as an excuse.

"I don't know if we're frustrated, but we've just got to learn to finish drives," Broncos running back C.J. Anderson said. "I don't know if that's us being young, or getting used to a new quarterback, or if it's play-calling, but we can all do better. If we keep relying on (the defense to win games), eventually it's gonna hurt us."

Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib dismissed his teammates' concerns, with winning being his foremost concern.

"Nah, man, they're wideouts," Talib said. "Man, that's what wideouts do. They don't eat, they get mad. They're gonna have games when they eat, and they're gonna have games when they don't eat. As long as we get the Ws, man ... they'll be alright tonight."
