Robert Griffin III's shoulder injury could reportedly keep him out even longer than first thought.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback is expected to miss 10-12 weeks as a result of his fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder, potentially ending his 2016 season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, citing sources.

Cleveland placed Griffin on injured reserve Monday due to the injury suffered in Week 1, meaning he'd be forced to miss at least eight games if the Browns brought him back as their designated player.

If the fifth-year pro is sidelined for three quarters of the season, it's unlikely he'd be able to recapture his starting job from Josh McCown.

Griffin signed a two-year deal with the Browns this offseason, but due to his injury, his future with the club is already in doubt.
