Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger: Stellar display to start season

Roethlisberger completed 27 of 37 passes for 300 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Monday night's season-opening win against the Redskins.

Analysis:

Roethlisberger's night really got started after he converted a fourth-and-one with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown early in the second quarter. Following that opening score, Roethlisberger got a tad lucky with a deflected pass being caught for his second touchdown just before halftime, but later found Brown for another score to cap his performance. Even without suspended starting running back Le'Veon Bell and dynamic deep threat Martavis Bryant, as well as No. 2 wideout Markus Wheaton (shoulder), Roethlisberger had the Pittsburgh offense humming, completing at least five throws to four of the five Steelers that caught passes Monday. On the back of such an impressive first showing, Roethlisberger should take confidence into next weekend's home opener and playoff rematch against the division-rival Bengals.
