Bengals' Tyler Eifert: Not taking team reps at practice

Eifert (ankle) was not taking team reps in practice Monday, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.

Analysis:

This is hardly a surprise based on previous reports suggesting that Eifert was hoping to return to action as soon as Week 4. That Eifert retained his spot on the Bengals' 53-man roster rather than landing on the team's PUP list, does support the notion that he has a chance to be back before the team's sixth game, but at this stage, Tyler Kroft (knee) -- health permitting -- and C.J. Uzomah are on track to fill in at tight end for Eifert out of the gate this season.
