The San Diego Chargers have successfully claimed running back Andre Williams off waivers from the New York Giants.

Williams joins Chargers running backs Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead.

The 24-year-old has played in every game since being drafted in 2014. He racked up 978 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in two seasons with the Giants, but couldn't carve out a spot in their already crowded backfield.

In need of an infusion of talent, San Diego also reportedly added cornerback Pierre Desir from the Cleveland Browns and defensive tackle Caraun Reid from the Detroit Lions.

Cornerback Steve Williams was among those waived in corresponding roster moves, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports, citing a source.
