The Buffalo Bills have placed first-round linebacker Shaq Lawson on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing shoulder surgery in the spring, the team announced Tuesday.

The first-round pick was expected to miss the beginning of the season and will now not be eligible to return to practice until Week 7 at the earliest.

The Bills also officially placed rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland on season-ending injured reserve, a move that was anticipated after it was confirmed he suffered a torn ACL.

Both moves were made in an effort to cut the Bills' roster below 75 players for Tuesday's deadline. Several players were released including veteran receiver Greg Little, linebacker David Hawthorne, and highly-touted undrafted free agent Eric Striker.
