Saints acquire pass-rusher McCain from Dolphins
The New Orleans Saints have acquired defensive end Chris McCain from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a future draft choice.
The Dolphins, who announced the trade Monday evening, did not disclose the draft pick they'd received. A person familiar with the deal, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press the Dolphins would receive a conditional seventh-round choice.
McCain is a third-year pro out of California who joined Miami as an undrafted rookie in 2014. He has played in 19 games during the past two seasons with the Dolphins and has been credited with six solo tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
The Saints struggled to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks last season, when they ranked next to last in the NFL defensively, and coach Sean Payton has indicated that is an area that needs to improve this season.
