Raiders' Reggie Nelson: Participates in position drills Monday

Nelson (knee) participated in position drills during Monday's practice, ESPN's Paul Gutierrez reports.

Analysis:

It was encouraging to see Nelson partake in some team drills Monday after sitting out of practice the last several weeks. While he still has a ways to go before he's fully recovered, Oakland hasn't ruled out the notion that Nelson could return to the field in time for Week 1. In the event that Nelson isn't ready, Nate Allen would likely fill his void.
