Patriots' Jonathan Freeny: Signs extension with Patriots

Freeny signed a two-year extension with the Patriots on Saturday, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

Freeny has evidently been impressive during training camp and is now under contract through 2018. He's expected to have a recurring role on special teams while providing depth at linebacker.
