Report: Cam Heyward suffers high ankle sprain, says he'll be ready Week 1

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward suffered a high ankle sprain in Friday's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Heyward said he'll undergo an MRI but expects to be ready for Week 1.

The veteran was carted to the locker room after walking off the field under his own power and having trainers attend to him on the sidelines.

Coming off back-to-back seasons of seven or more sacks, Heyward is the anchor of the Steelers' defensive line and if he misses any time it will be hard to replace his push off the edge up front.

Heyward has never missed a game during his five-year NFL career.
