Bengals' Tyler Eifert: Aiming for Week 4 return

Eifert (ankle) is targeting Week 4 for a return to the field, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis:

Eifert began jogging earlier this week as he continues to rehab from ankle surgery. While the tight end is hoping for a Week 4 return, the team's said he'll miss 4-to-6 weeks. Tyler Kroft was initially thought to be the Week 1 starter in Eifert's absence, but has since suffered a knee sprain that has him questionable for Week 1. C.J. Uzomah has been impressive in camp and could be the favorite to start Week 1. Regardless, without Eifert, the Bengals will be thin at tight end to start the season, so look for Uzomah and Ryan Hewitt to see increased reps the remainder of the preseason.
